With 140 km of coastline embraced by a crystal sea, the chief characteristic of the Messinian coasts is the deep Messinian gulf on the one side and the Ionian sea on the other. However, the biggest attractions of this part of Greece are the towns and villages at the seaside. There are beautiful landscapes and well-preserved monuments around, and also crystalline Ionian and Mediterranean sea waters. Towns seem to grow out from the rocks and lay next to the sea.
