| The second destination of this trip is Kardamyli. This place has also monuments to visit: the ancient city of Kardamyli with its old church and fortification. Don?t miss them, even if you are on a beach trip. Read about this in the Kardamyli part of the website.
But Kardamyli also has a beach with beautiful views and a lot of possibilities to take artistic photos. Near to the beach, you will find numerous tavernas and bars with traditional food. The coast is rocky and the water is very clean. There is also a small harbour, and two sandy beaches outside on the Northern and Southern end of the town. There are many other beaches near Kardamyli too, which have volley-ball grounds, boat rental, etc. Also, on the way from Kardamyli to Stoupa, you will find a small but wonderful beach between huge rocks, and it has caves in the water. It has no facilities such as toilet or shower but it is very popular though, because of the beautiful view and the clean water.
The third stop in the beach trip is Stoupa. This is one of the most famous and most well equipped beach towns in whole Messinia. From Kardamyli, it is not to far, you should follow the road to the South and you will arrive there in half an hour. It has mainly two big beaches, with lots of facilities, and also some caves in the water near these beaches. The rocky coast lets you even to climb up and jump into the water in some places. For this, you shoud swim some hundreds of metres to find the caves, where the water is deep enough for jumping. You can rent a boat, a pedal boat, kayak, canoe etc. (for the prices see the Stoupa section). There is also a possibility to play beach volley. There are two beaches, both of them with beautiful views and changing booths, shower, tavernas and bars. The water is one of the cleanest all over Messinia. Many say that this is the perfect beach place to relax and enjoy the sunshine. Stoupa has also a very good camping, so if you don?t have the time to return to Kalamata, you can still stay there.
On the way back to Kalamata, if you have time left, you can enjoy numerous wild beaches, or discover the beautiful villages of Mani. |

| There are many beautiful beaches in Messinia, and a lot of them are wild beaches just lying on the coast between two inhabited places. These beaches are so numerous, that it would be difficult even to enumerate them. We chose some beaches which are not only beautiful, but which are also on an interesting place, so that you can enjoy the beach but also the sites of the given town or village. The proposed route is: Verga ? Kardamyli ? Stoupa. These places can be found in Mani or on the way there, Verga is the closest village to Kalamata, it practically belongs to its agglomeration.
When you leave Kalamata on the way to Mani, you will quickly arrive to Verga. It has several beaches outside (before and after) the village itself, most of them are wild beaches without any indication and any facilities, however, the tourists and the local people too know these places and go there. Verga also has a big beach which is ?officially? a beach. It even has a large parking area for those who come by car. The beach offers a beautiful view to the city of Kalamata from a few kilometres away, and it has many facilities: changing booths, showers, chairs for sunbath, playground for basketball, bar and restaurant, surf rental, boat rental. The water is very clean, and the area of the beach is quite big, there is enough place for a lot of visitors. Even if the water is rather clean, if you want to dive, you should rather choose one of the wild beaches near to it.
