Indian fig puree

The Indian fig cacti, the characteristic beautiful decoration of the Messinian landscape, was planted in the older times around the orchards to serve as fences, and without requiring any care, they give every August plenty of nourishing and tasteful fruits. The locals, in order to be able to enjoy their delicious taste around the year, make puree out of the Indian figs and use it as jam or ingredient in various sweets and pastries.
